I'm a senior software engineer with a decade of experience across the full stack, strongest on the frontend in TypeScript and Angular. I've also built complex production apps with React and SwiftUI, including KeyBank's internal AI platform and Kualia's iPhone app, without ever writing either one by hand. That changed how I think about engineering. I don't think we need to know every language or framework at the syntax level anymore. What matters more is understanding the ideas underneath: programming fundamentals, frontend design, how frontend frameworks work, backend system design, and how all of it fits together.
The shift wasn't overnight. Starting in early 2025, I gradually moved from writing code myself to prompting agents. I spent about a year with Claude Code before switching to Codex, which is now my daily driver. I talk to it through Wispr Flow, and agents now write 100% of the code. My actual code-typing speed has fallen off quite a bit. On the rare occasion I need to write something myself, I have to reach into the back of my mind for syntax I haven't used in a long time.
The best coding agents already understand and write code at a senior or staff engineer level. I no longer spend much time thinking about how to write a React hook or pass props between components. My focus has moved from lines of code to whole files, features, systems, and architecture. I decide what should exist, give the agents the right context, review their work, and steer when they go off course. That workflow has made me roughly 10x faster.
On the Yegge Scale for AI-assisted development, I sit somewhere between levels 6 and 7: several agents running in parallel, still managed by hand. I don't have much reason to chase level 8 and build a custom orchestrator right now. My personal projects are mature and rarely have enough independent work to keep one busy. At KeyBank, our tooling is more limited, and we don't have access to models strong enough to make that kind of workflow practical.
Today I'm a senior fullstack engineer at KeyBank, where I'm building an internal AI platform that lets employees work with specialized agents. I created the React app and am building the backend too, using TypeScript, Express, Postgres, and Google ADK.
On my own time I founded and run Kualia, a budgeting app for iPhone and web that I designed, built, and shipped entirely myself, from the interface down to the system that powers it. I first built it with Flutter and Supabase, then rebuilt it from scratch with agents using SwiftUI, Convex, and Angular.
